Director of Community Relations -- The Maples of Towson -- Administration

The Admissions Marketing Director is responsible for managing the resident flow, admiss! ions process and marketing program for the center. Responsibilities include: coordinating a marketing program for healthcare services which assures strong resident, referrer, and payor satisfaction; appropriate market penetration; positive public image; and maximization of census goals.

The ideal DIrector of Community Relations is a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with residents, families, and administration, at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate has polished presentation and interpersonal skills and must possess top level business management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills. In addition, the Director must have a college degree with a concentration in marketing, business, or communications preferred. Three years progressive experience in health care setting is essential.

The following is a representative list of duties and responsibilities associated with this position:
-- Assesses inquiries when necessary ! and responds to referrers within one hour whenever possible; f! acilitates admission decision
-- Ensures positive admission experience for resident and family
-- Meets census goals by working with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate resident flow into and through the nursing care areas
-- Ensures an immediate response to phone, fax, walk-in inquiries and referrers; either personally or with appropriate back-up systems
-- Coordinates tour, application, and sales process with residents, families, and referrers, either personally or with appropriate back-up systems
-- Ensures proper completion, signing, and distribution of paperwork
-- Meets with family and residents on day of admission and ensures appropriate preparation of room and introduction to staff on unit
-- Communicates admissions criteria to referral sources, residents and families
-- Ensures comprehensive documentation of resident’s data which will enhance appropriate placement within the Network
-- Maintains thorough knowledge of medic! al, social, and financial information relating to Elder-Care and disabled care
-- Conducts follow-up on all inquiries which have not yet been converted to admissions
-- Works with the Administrator and appropriate staff to ensure consistent and effective admission, discharge and transfer meetings
-- Maintains statistics on resident flow, pending and lost inquiries, denials, hospital discharges and marketing activity
-- Nurtures referral relationships through resident-oriented admissions process
-- Develops and maintains a referral base
-- Works to initiate, nurture and maintain contacts with physicians, social workers, and discharge planners, to maximize referrals and facilitate admissions
-- Stays abreast of services available within the center and though the Network in order to serve as liaison to hospital discharge planners, utilization review nurses, physicians, and other professionals to assist in efficient use of center
-- Provides info! rmation to referral sources of resident’s progress as appropriate -- Develops and implements short-term and long-range marketing plans
-- Plans and presents programs regarding the center or other appropriate healthcare topics; to hospitals, physicians, and other potential referral sources
-- Works with Administrator to ensure resident satisfaction utilizing the resident satisfaction surveys, implements plan to meet needs
-- Concerns his/herself with the safety of all center residents. Ensures that the center adheres to legal, safety, health, fire and sanitation codes by being familiar with his/her role in carrying out the centers fire, safety, and disaster plans and by being familiar with the current MDS’
-- Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service, in a caring and compassionate atmosphere, which recognizes the individual’s needs and rights
-- Ensures smooth operation of front desk and staff.
-- Ensures front desk is covered from 8am - 8pm/7 days a week including during meal/b! reak times.
