General Summary:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is the clinical expert in evidence-based nursing practice within a specialty area. The CNS functions both autonomously and in collaboration with other health care providers to manage, support, and coordinate the care of acute and/or critically ill patients. The CNS designs, implements, and evaluates both patient-specific and population-based programs of care. The CNS provides leadership in advancing the practice of nursing to achieve quality and cost effective patient outcomes as well as provide leadership of multidisciplinary groups in designing and implementing innovative alternative solutions that address system problems and/or patient care issues.
The CNS supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Minimum Requirements:
Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing, or compact state, as a Registered Nurse. National certification in clinical specialty. CNS! certification or certification eligible. BLS and/or ACLS Inst! ructor Status preferred.
Masters Degree in Nursing with a clinical focus. Graduate preparation must have included clinical application of the CNS role component. If clinical application of the CNS role was not included, a post-masters CNS certificate must be obtained within 3 years of date of hire. Minimum five (5) years related clinical experience. If hired in area with a substantially different clinical knowledge set, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate clinical expertise in the practice area within 6 months to a 1-year timeframe. Teaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated skills at the level of an advanced practice nurse as evidenced by portfolio, recommendation letters, references, interview, and demonstration. In leadership, communication, collaboration, mentoring, and change To utilize evidence to develop, teach, guide, and implement practice standards and policies.

Computer skills using various applications: Internet, email, word processing, presentation, and database.
Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements : Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity : The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Environmental Conditions : The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical cur! rent, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or ! exposure to chemicals.
