The Center for Immunization Research is seeking a highly-motivated, organized, energetic individual who enjoys working with people. The Research Program Coordinator will work closely with the Research Nurse Manager and the Principal Investigator coordinating all clinical aspects of various studies with an emphasis on Enteric illnesses. Requires phlebotomy skills and experience placing IVs. Will require maintaining standard laboratory operations. Coordinates moderate to complex clinical trials in accordance with ICH-GCP, under the Direction of the Principal Investigator! . Ensures regulatory compliance in conduct of protocol(s). Int! eracts regularly with other members of the research team regarding protocol development, implementation and data management. Updates team members about issues that may have an impact on subject safety, recruitment and retention, or study design and integrity. Contributes to protocol, consent and source document development. Facilitates subject screening and recruitment activities, including interviewing potential study subjects and assessing eligibility for study participation. Monitors the clinical course and collection of research data. Collects, enters and reviews electronic case report form information in databases and in subject data tracking system. Meets with study monitors, assists with visits, and query resolution. Monitors compliance with quality assurance and the quality control goals of the trial. Manages, maintains and operates the clinical laboratory. Performs and documents clinical laboratory tests in compliance with CLIA certification. Collects and documents! laboratory specimens in compliance with protocol. Specimens may include venipuncture, urine, nasal secretion, saliva, and stool collection. Processes, stores, and ships specimens according to protocol and regulatory guidelines. Communicates with internal laboratory vendors (i.e. JHH Core Lab), outsourced laboratory vendors (i.e. Quest), and study sponsors regarding the following: On-site clinical laboratory needs. Management of specimens. Shipping/transportation of specimens. Contributes to Enterics standard of practice, assists with development of policies, procedures and guidelines. Expectations of The Research Program Coordinator include but are not limited to: Acquiring and maintaining a strong working knowledge of protocol(s) and protocol related procedures. Maintaining current Human Subjects Certification, CPR certification, IOTA training, Biohazard material training and any CIR required in services. Strong, clear, concise, professional communication skills, both ver! bal and written and the ability to adapt delivery of information to mee! t diverse knowledge and learning needs from Principal Investigator and clinicians to study team members, to research subjects. Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively as a team member. Participating in special projects and other duties as assigned. Acknowledging limits of knowledge, scope of role, and knows when and who to seek out for guidance.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline. Some related experience. Must have experience with veni-puncture and IV placement. Also familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Must be comfortable with data entry and database use. Must be able to move about inpatient unit easily to assist with research patient care. Experience maintaining specific clinical areas. Recent Phlebotomy and Intravenous start skills. Must be flexible with daily work schedule. Work schedule on occasion, may require modification to accommodate needs of the program. This includes working off shifts, weekends and hol! idays. Ability to travel between the JHU clinic at Hampton House and the Bayview unit. Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Finger dexterity, ability to stand or walk for extended period of time.

Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula : 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. .

Preferred Qualifications:
Certified as Medical Assistant or LPN.
