The College of Health Professions is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Master's prepared Registered Nurse to administer and aid in the continued development of a Nursing Retention and Success program on the Towson Campus. The Nursing Retention and Success program seeks to increase student retention in the nursing program and first-time success on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for students at Towson University.
The Department of Nursing is a CCNE accredited program with approximately 365 undergraduate students. In addition, the department offers a master's program in a community-based nursing and a post-baccalaureate certificate in nursing education with over 100 students enrolled.
Responsibilities: Administration of computerized testing for students in the nursing program; identification of students at risk for failure in the nursing program and/or the NCLEX and develop a success program for them; development of a learning contract for at-risk students and enforcement of those contracts; and administration of a dosage exam preparation program for all nursing students.
Requirements: Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program, two years nursing education experience, and licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland. Evidence of current clinical practice knowledge which reflects the role of a nurse generalist is preferred. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary: Competitive salary with university benefits that include tuition remission; annual leave, holidays, and sick days. Health benefits are available for direct pay by the employee. A portion of the health benefit premium may be available for reimbursement. The position is grant funded and contingent on funds being available at the time of hire and the duration of the grant.
