Nursing License is required DUTIES:
Implement treatment and evaluation of patients with cancer and other diseases that participate in clinical trial research protocols
Provide education and counseling to patients that are participating in c! linical trials
Coordinate the scheduling of diagnostic/pro! tocol studies
Monitor outpatient and inpatient consults on any required coordinative tests
Assist with the data analysis in the protocol
Initiate and implement all phases of data management, to include data collection, entry validation, reporting and analysis QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
Registration: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. An applicant who has graduated from an approved nursing educational program within the past 12 months may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse within 6 months of appointment. No person appointed pending registration may be retained beyond 6 months, or promote! d, if registration has not been attained.
In addition to the basic education and licensure requirement, you must possess the following:
GS-12:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying Nurse Specialist experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: provide nursing care in a research environment; have experience taking care of cancer patients; record and observe patients' physiological and emotional conditions; provide patient education and counseling; monitor outpatient and inpatient consults and required coordinative tests; participate actively as a multidisciplinary team member with well established communication skills and high proficiency in organizing, implementing, and coordinating complex treatment and research plans; maintain a data management system for documentation and retrieval of patient i! nformation.

Equivalent combinations of appropriate! education and specialized experience.
GS-13:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying Nurse Specialist experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in ether the private or public sector, performing the following type of tasks: provide specialized nursing care to cancer patients in a research environment; participate as a multidisciplinary team member involved in clinical trials including well established communication skills and proficiency in organizing, implementing, coordinating complex treatment and research plans; providing patient education and counseling; participate in the maintenance of a data management system, updated in real time, that incorporates documentation, verification and retrieval of protocol and patient information for clinical, research and regulatory purposes.
