Hybrid Courses: Dorsey Station, Laurel, and Waldorf

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks an adjunct faculty to teach Nursing Classes within the RN to BSN program. UMUC is one of 11 degree-granting institutions in the University System of Maryland (USM). Working adults, military personnel, and other students around the globe are achieving their academic goals through UMUC's innovative educational options, including online instruction, accelerated academic programs, and classroom-based courses taught during the daytime, evenings, and weekends. Currently, more than 42,000 students attend UMUC nationally, and an additional 37,000 students attend UMUC at on site classes in more than 25 countries throughout the world; about 58,000 students are active duty military, veterans, and their families. In 2012, UMUC had over 262,000 online course enrollments.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • The Adjunct Faculty is respo! nsible for development, planning, implementation and evaluatio! n of the theory and application components of all assigned courses.
  • Demonstrates the ability to teach hybrid courses.
  • Ability to utilize online technology tools when engaging students throughout the course educational environments.
  • Effectively communicate and facilitate all instructional methods for student development and growth.
  • Adaptability to lead courses with adult learners.

NURS 380 â€" Business Principles and Nursing

NURS 390 â€" Advocacy and Politics in Nursing

NURS 400 â€" Diversity in Nursing

NURS 410 â€" Applying Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing

NURS 495 â€" Leadership and Management in Nursing

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIEN! CE:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college/university is required
  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse License in Maryland
  • Five years’ experience in the field of nursing
  • Five year experience in teaching in Higher Education
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A terminal degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution is preferred
  • Experience delivering distance education
  • Experience in teaching in a baccalaureate program
  • Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) preferred
