Naval Air Station Patuxent River is located in beautiful Southern Maryland. Â"NAS PAXÂ" is situated in historic Saint MaryÂ's County where the Patuxent River joins the Chesapeake Bay. Our main base is next to Lexington Park, Maryland, with Webster Outlying Field to the south and Naval Recreation Center SolomonÂ's across the river in Calvert County. The naval air station operates across 14,500 acres and hosts more than 50 tenant activities. Our two largest mission partners, Naval Air Systems Command and the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, bring the full spectrum of research, development, acquisition, test, and evaluation for all of naval aviation to ! the base. This position is located within the Fleet and Family! Readiness Department, (N9) of the Naval Air Station Command. The Family Support Site Manager oversees the full operation and the delivery of services provided by the Fleet and Family Service Center which includes: relocation assistance, new parent support, deployment services, clinical counseling services, financial management counseling, family employment services, family advocacy and the transition assistance programs. KEY REQUIREMENTS

Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
College transcripts must be submitted as proof of claimed education. DUTIES:

  • Provides advice on human service matters related to personal and family adjustment.
  • Identify and address family ! and service member issues and continuously changing demographic trends which impact mission goals.
  • Provides counsel to professional colleagues on a wide variety of program planning matters to include interpretation of policy, regulations and standards.
  • Administers a family support program for eligible personnel and their families at geographically separated locations.
  • Provides assistance to management in identifying and addressing family issues which impact mission readiness and retention. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

The Office of Personnel Management has identified the followi! ng minimum educational and experience requirements for this position:

1.) A degree in behavioral or social science; or a related discipline appropriate to this position. NOTE: College transcripts must be submitted as proof of claimed education. OR

2.) A combination of education and experience that has provided me with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR

3.) I have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Minimum Qualifications : Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the positio! n to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing advisory services on social and human services matters to enhance the stability and self-sufficiency of individuals and families; 2) Managing the operations of a social and human services program; 3)Providing direct technical and administrative supervision; and 4) Applying laws and regulations to maintain a compliant social and human services program. REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

This is a full-time permanent position. A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.

Selectee may be required to complete a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary pe! riod.
