The American Nurses Association (ANA) is the only full-service professional organization representing the interests of the nation's 3.1 million registered nurses through its constituent and state nurses associations and its organizational affiliates.
The ANA is seeking an Internet Applications Analyst to provide coordination and application work to support web sites (ANA enterprise and state/multistate), digital media and business application software. Provide business analysis on web projects, problem resolution and support of database integration and administration and mobile platforms. Develop dynamic components or stand-alone Web-based applications from definition and design to implementation and support, using business system analysis skills. Provide project report updates and system documentation as required. Assist with set up and configuration of all Web and database servers, as well as monitoring and optimizing performance of all application servers. Provide set up and configuration of Media server for on-demand and live streaming.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related discipline is strongly preferred, or a combination or equivalent of education, training and experience would be considered in lieu of a degree.
Related Work Experience:
Five years of business analysis experience including information technology. Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience specific to Internet/Web related applications, which includes analysis of business requirements and resulting development of Web-based applications. Experience with data processing, office automation and Internet management systems. Web application design and development experience, programming skills and experience with text/audio/video file formatting and delivery such as podcasting, streaming and RSS. Technical and analytical experience for troubleshooting Web application issues and problems on multiple platforms. Knowledge of development life cycle of Web and computer interactive applications. Experience with industry standard Web development methodologies including Web browsers and browser specifications. Demonstrated experience with word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphic presentation, Web design, and electronic forms applications. Familiarity with mobile technologies and devices. Ability to train staff on distributed publishing tools such as content management systems. Demonstrated experience developing application/technical documentation. Understanding of dynamic or active web contents and the use of ASP, PHP, AJAX, Visual Studio and SQL. Some knowledge of database and networking technologies, including security and encryption on the Internet, and Windows hardware and software.
Skills:
- Knowledge of current web markup or scripting languages such as (X)HTML, HTML5, CSS, XML, and JavaScript.
- Experience with desktop publishing, imaging, animation, and audio and video applications such as: Adobe’s Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker, In Design, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Premiere; Audacity; Microsoft’s Expression Encoder, Web, Windows Media Encoder and Tools, Office Suite.
- Experience with set up and configuration of Internet Information Services (IIS), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), PHP, MySQL, Windows Media Services.
- Demonstrated experience with ASP, Visual Studio and SQL, while PHP is a plus; familiarity with .NET technology, AJAX, and RSS feeds. Knowledge of relational database techniques. Experience with supporting multiple production databases is a plus.
- Familiarity with Wordpress, Joomla, or Drupal is desirable.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to effectively translate technical requirements, limitations and parameters to non-technical managers and staff and to provide clear and concise documentation.
- Project management skills to plan, organize and implement a number of discrete project tasks simultaneously to assure smooth and efficient overall implementation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Possess the ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Ability to multi-task.
