Delivers safe, therapeutic patient care through ! use of the nursing process. Provides intermittent, skilled home visits to a group of VIP patients under the direction of the Home Support Nursing Supervisor. Provides routine assessments of patient status as well as holistic, admission assessments, specified nursing treatments and patient/family education. Complies with Home Health Agency policies and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
Knowledge : Knowledge and understanding of vascular system and its interrelatedness to other body systems. Proficiency in: -Starting/maintaining patency of peripheral IV's. -Knowledge of and ability to care for central venous access devices (CVAD). -Blood drawing from CVAD. -Knowledge of JCAHO, Federal, and State regulatory standards
Skills : Ability to exercise independent judgment. Organized in approach to work accomplishment and meeting time requirements. Ability to communicate clearly an! d effectively with varied persons including patients, families! , home care staff, physicians and administrators. Understanding and ability to apply principles of teaching and learning to patients with varied abilities and needs. Safe, competent and therapeutic hands-on nursing skills required. A high degree of flexibility and the ability to establish priorities. Ability to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
Required Licensure, Certification, Etc .: Current licensure in the jurisdiction in which he/she functions, Current CPR certification. Valid Maryland driver's license, current auto insurance and a working vehicle. Must agree to comply with Maryland law for mandatory seat belt use.
Work Experience : 2 year hospital experience as a practicing nurse. Experience with one or more in Oncology, Critical Care, Med/Surg, Wound care, Home Care.
