This Nurse Clinical Manager must meet the requirements of the Nurse Manager Job description and display an outstanding level of professionalism and must practice in accordance with Hospital Policy, Maryland Practice Act, ANA Standards of Care and unit / departmental standards. In addition to these, the Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for working with the Director in the functions of leadership: 24/7 responsibility for the effective operation of the unit/department, role modeling, performance dialogue process, human resource issues and other management functions as needed.

1. Actively fulfills the 24/7 role and responsibilities of the clinical nurse manager as is delineated in this job description. Assures high quality standard of care within the unit by using nursing process as reflected in the ANA Standard of Nursing Practice. Practice is evidence based.
2. Monitors and evaluates nursing care delivered and develops corrective action, as needed.
3. Collaborates with other health care providers in developing the operational goals of the department.
4. Provides direction and consultation with the unit based educator to develop staff and implement new employee orientation, mentorship and internship programs.
5. Provides input into yearly budget with suggestions for cost saving initiatives.
6. Adheres to Hospital Risk Management and Employee Health Programs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
- Graduate of an approved professional nursing program.
- Graduate of an approved nursing program
- Licensed / currently registered to practice in the State of Maryland as a Registered Nurse.
- 3-5 years management experience working in the specialty area.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Master's degree and /or specialty certification
