! Qualifications

Required:

• Current Maryland RN License
• Completion of an approved lactation consultant educational program, or a minimum of eighteen hours of continuing education as defined by the World Health Organization's (WHO) Baby Friendly Hospital initiative.
• At least three years of nursing experience in education or the clinical practice of Maternal Child Health.
• Ongoing education through appropriate literature, formal classes and seminars.
• CPR/BLS certification
• Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners

Assists breastfeeding women and families define and achieve their breastfeeding goals. Accomplishes these goals within the framework of systematic problem solving in cooperation with the mother to provide accurate and consistent information to support and promote her decision to breastfeed her child.
