Description: Frederick County Government is hiring Geriatric Nursing Assistant ~ Montevue Assisted Living right now, this job will be placed in Maryland. Non-exempt; full-time; 40 hours per week; varied days and hours; full-benefits; primary shifts are 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Examples of Work:
Perform personal services for residents such as bathing, shaving and other duties necessary for resident care
As scheduled or needed, check and record residents’ blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, etc.
Report any change in residents' physical condition to the RN, LPN and/or Director
Care for residents' rooms, bathrooms and dining area
Gather soiled laundry and take it to the laundry area
Sort and put away clean laundry
Change bed linens
Assist with meal service
Assist with lifting and moving residents
Escort residents to and from off-site medical appointments and other activities (driving a! County vehicle)
Perform other related duties as required !
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school graduation, or the equivalent
Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) registration issued by the MD State Board of Nursing
- May consider equivalent certification from another state if candidate has already applied for MD State GNA certification
- May consider candidate who is eligible for GNA registry (candidate has already passed both parts of the MD State competency test and has already applied for MD State GNA registration)
Ability to obtain and maintain a Frederick County Employee Driving Permit
Ability and willingness to complete 16 hour training for registry as Medication Technician by MD State Board of Nursing, and subsequent training renewals
Effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey information to residents and co-workers and the ability to accura! tely complete forms and reports and perform other clerical tasks
Ability to work with sensitive, personal information and maintain appropriate confidentiality
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, residents and their visitors and the general public, with special sensitivity to the needs and priorities of elderly persons
Physical requirements include the ability to lift/move residents who need assistance; to help residents into/out of vehicles; to carry parcels and other items for residents; and to perform general patient care and cleaning duties as detailed above
This position and the physical workplace may include exposure to air contaminants, hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, diseases and medical conditions, etc. (e.g. Tuberculosis, AIDS virus, Hepatitis B virus, etc.) PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:
Current Certified Medicine Technician (CMT) registration issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing - May c! onsider equivalent certification from another state
Experience work! ing as a nursing assistant in a nursing home or assisted living facility
Additional Information/Examination Process:
Available for varied workdays and hours when needed (including weekdays, weekends and holidays)
Satisfactory background investigation
This position is subject to random drug testing
