The Forbush School at Prince George's County, a 12 month program located in Capitol Heights (Prince George's County) , provides special education a! nd related services to children ages five to twenty-one with low functioning autism, pervasive development disorder (PDD), developmental delays in one or more areas, and other related disorders. The school serves up to 42 students.
The Forbush School at Prince George's County is looking to hire a School Nurse (RN only) . The School Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, administering, documenting, and evaluating student nursing care geared to mentally ill children and adolescents, in accordance with Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) and team treatment plan. The School Nurse administers medical treatment as prescribed and is responsible for teaching and providing psychosocial support for students. The School Nurse communicates with students based on an understanding of the developmental needs of children and adolescents. Assists teaching staff as needed.
Requires: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland a! t the time of appointment and continuously throughout tenure a! nd at least one year of related experience working with children/adolescents. Previous experience in a school setting and/or with children/adolescents with low functioning autism/severe emotional and behavioral issues strongly preferred. Salary is determined by education/experience.
