Job Description:
The Health Informatics & Technology Solutions Division is currently seeking a Senior Medical Writer/Editor to support our Rockville, MD office.
Key Responsibilities:
Write consumer-based content for the AIDSinfo web site, ! including fact sheets, clinical trial summaries, drug summarie! s, and other consumer-based materials using highly technical medical references
Edit consumer-based materials for organization, style, consistency, format, grammar, and tone among numerous writers.
Use a content management system to post information on the web, and review all postings to assure they match in text, style, and formating to their original source documents
Develop and maintain one central style guide, primarily based on AMA style, that is used as a reference for all writing products developed on project
Contribute to all promotional activities, including developing newsletter articles and social media (Twitter/Facebook) posts.
Substantively edit HIV-related medical practice guidelines and work closely with guideline authors to resolve questions of syntax and meaning, suggest revisions to verbose text, and reorganize content as appropriate
Maintain and perform quality-control checks on all written materials produced on the project
Do ! comparison proofreading of final print and electronic versions of documents
Upon request, support writing and editing of proposals, contract deliverables, and other business development activities
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in health or life science (e.g., public health, health communications, nursing, biology, biochemistry)
5 years medical writing experience
5 years experience translating highly technical concepts into plain language
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) Preferred Skills/Experience:
Master’s degree
HIV/AIDS-related experience
Experience writing for government
Direct experience working with medical professionals
Professional certifications (e.g., AMWA, BELS)
Professional Skills:
Documented excellence in written English
Ability to work independently
Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to work collaboratively, in! cluding with team members who work remotely
Ability to prioritize t! asks, to work simultaneously on many projects, and to complete high-quality documents according to tight timelines
